Before you rent a commercial kitchen
Confirm the specific operation and its permit implications with the local health authority and rental operator.
1. Match the rental format
Is the kitchen shared, private, hourly, monthly, or a commissary servicing area only? Check minimum hours, cancellation policies, security deposit and access hours.
2. Verify equipment and storage
Ask what appliances, sinks, prep areas, temperature-controlled storage, loading access and consumables are included, and whether you can reserve consistent hours.
3. Confirm regulatory acceptance
A rental listing is not evidence that a specific city regulator will approve your operation. Ask about health inspections, required food manager certifications, permitted activities, signed commissary agreements, and mobile-food servicing documentation.
4. Request the full price
Compare kitchen time, memberships, deposits, cleanup, waste disposal, storage, insurance and other recurring charges before committing.
5. Tour before signing
Discuss production workflow and verify that the operator can support your product and scale.
